A romanced story of Attila the Hun, since his childhood, when he lost his parents until his death. Attila is disclosed as a great leader, strategist and lover and the movie shows his respect to the great Roman strategist Flavius Aetius, his loves and passions, the gossips, intrigues and betrayals in Rome, all of these feelings evolved by magic and mysticism.

Film Review

Okay, First of all to all the Gerard Bashers out there, He is a GREAT and Awesome ACTOR. He proved that in many movies, but especially in The Phantom of the Opera. Gerard Butler is a very good-looking man, and I will repeat myself, he is also definitely a great actor. :) If Gerard Butler is in any movie then I will go see it and buy it on Video and/or DVD. :) The movie, "Atilla" is just that "A movie" and a made for mini-series movie at that. If you look at "The Last Samurai" it is not historically accurate either, but still a great film and I have it on DVD as well. :) Many movies are make-believe with little or no historical fact and should be enjoyed for the entertainment value. If you want fact then go to a documentary show on the History Channel.

Flavius Aetius (Powers Boothe) stands for the civilization that was Rome. He serves the dolt Emperor Valentinian (Reg Rogers) who has trouble locating the Empire on the map. Valentinian, the product of a dysfunctional imperial family is a puppet of his mother and threatened by his sister who’d put a butler on the Imperial throne if she could. Rome is now under siege. Attila (Gerard Butler) is uniting the Hunnic tribes and pillaging the Eastern Empire based in Constantanople. For all his deprecations on Roman territory, Attila the Hun is an honorable ruler over his loyal subjects. He has dreams to build a rival empire. Think of the fools you serve; join me instead, the barbarian Hun invites Aetius to the Hunnic cause.Where are your forums, your theaters, your circuses, Aetius derides the Hun’s request. Flavius Aetius for all his dissemblences is irrevocably committed to Rome as the guiding light of civilization.Does he choose wisely?

This movie was very accurate and richly made. Seeing this first on the History channel, I just expected it to be another documentary. However, the writers created engrossing, fantastic script, while still being informative. The costuming and set design completely astounded and impressed me. The costumes had so much detail and were made really well. I especially appreciated the quality of the materials used in the costumes. In addition, the lavish sets were absolutely inspired and gorgeous. No detail was spared in the making of these gorgeous sets. Even the background sets and props,if you look very closely, are very ornate. The casting was delightful (Gerard Butler is a god).
